The Profitable Business Portfolio is an advanced qualification aimed at senior managers and decision makers in the industry.

Successful completion of the three mandatory units, each a stand alone qualification, generates the overarching Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Licensed Hospitality

On successful completion of the ACLH, a further four units can be selected from the remaining ten units to make up the seven units required to obtain the Diploma in Licensed Hospitality. Arrochar Associates are running a choice of five of the Diploma units listed below

The funding criteria that have to be met:

  • Be a Director/senior manager ie tenant, lessee, owner of a pub or business
  • Be working in an organisation employing between 5 – 249 staff, or volunteers, based within the specific funding areas.
  • Not be previous recipients of L&M funding to Business Leaders since 2005.
  • Resident of the EU for 3 years or more

Any one who qualifies and is interested can secure their place with a payment of £75 +VAT and will pay a further £500 for the training. They will receive a grant of £500 from the Learning and Skills Council brokers 4-6 weeks after the course. Another £500 is available to successful applicants for further training.

PBP - Unit 1 - Profit & loss and budget control –

  • aims to de-mystify profit and loss accounting
  • enable candidates to become more conversant with financial terminology
  • construct profit and loss budgets
  • monitor performance

PBP - Unit 2 - Understanding your market –

  • aims to help candidates establish a clearly defined and marketable vision for their business.
  • how to apply a range of market research data and techniques
  • to identify potential customer groups
  • define customers’ needs to create an appropriate offer for their business

PBP - Unit 3 - Motivating your team –

  • aims to help candidates apply motivational theory to the operation of a licensed hospitality business
  • develop an understanding of how to build and lead an effective team
  • improve staff performance by understanding more about management style & employee perception
