From April 10 changes to the way that workers take time off sick come into force. Under the new system, doctors will be allowed to advise what sort of tasks employees can perform rather than simply issue a sick note that declares someone too ill to work. It is hoped that the ‘fit notes’ will reduce costs for employers and prevent long-term sick leave absences.
